Niue Language Week

Fakalofa lahi atu,

For Niue Language Week, we were asked to complete a weaving of colours, to showcase a skill that is highly used in the Island of Niue. In Niue weaving is used to make bags, coasters, hats, baskets and more. Here are some pictures that shows our completed product.

We folded the A5 piece of paper in half and cut strips. Then we coloured and drew patterns on each strip.  After that we weaved blue and yellow (Niue flag colours) over and under each strip.

For some of us, it was a little hard to do, so we asked our friends who knew how to do it for help. We all worked together as a class to get the job done. We had fun and were very proud of our designs.

Come back here for more reading on our MOTAT trip :)
